Spoiler alert!

Film “High and Low, the Worst Cross”
“HiGH&LOW THE WORST Cross” is Yuta’s debut in Japanese cinema, and the role he takes on is nothing short of impressive. Suzaki Ryo comes from a disgraced family. He used to rule Nami High, but transferred to Senomon Technical School to accompany Amagai Kohei. Together, they plan to take over the school and go after Oya High – the strongest school under Hanaoka Fujio’s leadership.
Right off the bat, we sense some displeasure in Ryo over Kohei’s behavior. There are implications that Ryo might betray him, especially when he overhears a conversation where Kohei addresses him as nothing more than a “tool”. However, by the end of the movie, we know full well how loyal he is to Kohei given their past. As children, Ryo and Kohei were the best of friends, but something was lost when Kohei became consumed with superiority. Ryo, however, never gave up on their friendship and kept it until the end, even in the face of rejection. Ultimately, it is Ryo who saves Kohei’s honor by preventing him from using a knife in a fight and begs him to start over.

What’s notable is just how incredible Yuta is in the role of Suzaki Ryo, imbuing him with an intimidating, gritty, and mysterious darkness, but also bringing out his innocent side. One moment we’ll never forget is how affectionately Ryo smiles at the end of the movie, lying side by side with Kohei just like when they were kids. It’s so rewarding to see this iconic Yuta smiled that we simply want to scream with joy. This is because, up to that point in the film, Ryo is as menacing as a lion on the hunt – bloodthirsty and relentless. Its action scenes are powerful yet elegant due to how smoothly Yuta executes them, leaving our jaws perpetually on the floor.
If this is your first time watching Yuta on screen, you’d think this is a seasoned actor doing what he does best. That’s how refined his performance is in this film, and his screen presence is magnificent, to say the least. With such an impactful debut, we can’t wait to see what Yuta has in store for us next.
If you haven’t seen this amazing movie yet, you can watch it on Netflix now!
